(Customization is not custom: If you want to make adjustments in size, color, or style to a piece that I already offer through my site, then you are wanting to customize something that already exists, which is not this custom process. If you want to customize something, place your order and mention it in the checkout notes. Three cost tiers for custom pieces  

Level 1 : $250+, 3-6 weeks

For simpler designs using just one or two organic materials and minimal metal cost.

• Up to 60 minutes of collaborative meeting time
• Up to $100 in material cost

 

Level 2 : $500+, 5-10 weeks

For more complex designs using two or more organic materials, significant metal or material cost and potential for custom fitting.

• Up to 2 hours of meeting time (including in-person fitting)
• Up to $200 in material cost
• Custom fitting

 

Level 3 : $1,000+, 8-16 weeks

For more complex designs using two or more organic materials, significant metal or material cost and potential for custom fitting.

• Up to 4 hours of meeting time (including in-person fitting)
• Up to $400 in material cost
• Custom fitting

All levels include:

• Up to 3 Design Sketch revisions
• Project proposal Design Sketch
• My time and expertise to craft your dream piece
• Text updates during the creation process for your input
• Free final product shipping to you
• Final custom Mama Maize piece that you love!

 

What to expect:

• We start with you letting me know what you’re thinking about in the project proposal form (this step can be skipped if you let me know another way)
• I accept your proposal—given that I feel confident in my ability to create a piece you’ll love (if I’m uncertain, I’ll do my best to refer you to another maker who has the expertise you’ll need)
• You make the 50% down payment online: LINK HERE
• Ship or deliver me any raw materials you want me to include (you pay shipping)
• If the piece needs to be custom fitted, you send me key measurements
• I email you with a written summary of the piece we’re creating, including any materials that need to be ordered (including adjusted final price if over included material cost) and estimated completion date
• You can request changes to the summary and scope until you sign off and give it the go ahead!
• At this point, if needed, we can meet to clarify the overall vision for the piece
• Once we’re aligned on the vision, I draft a Design Sketch and send it to you
• If needed, we meet to make adjustments to the Sketch
• Up to three revisions are included
• With a finalized Design, I create your piece, updating you along the way
• If it’s a Level 2 or 3 custom and we need to do an in-person custom fitting for the completed piece, we schedule that ahead of time and you pay for my travel cost to come to you or you come to my studio in Grass Valley
• If there’s no custom fit, once the piece is completed, I ship it to you, and…voila! 

Optional Add Ons:

• Additional meeting time is $55 an hour
• Additional design revisions are $35 each
• HeartSeed Planting Ritual (after you’ve received the piece)
